Whole Kids Foundation Grant awarded

9/21/2021 3:24 pm

The Old Bonhomme Community Garden has been awarded a $3,000 grant from Whole Kids Foundation for 2022 to rebuild and expand its edible education garden program. The Whole Kids Foundation’s Garden Grant Program helps schools and organizations in the US, Canada and the UK connect students to real food through edible learning gardens aimed at improving children’s nutrition and wellness.

The OB Garden committee is currently researching and planning how to best distribute funding after receiving word that school construction projects will disrupt the entire garden space during the next school year. Teacher surveys are being conducted to help the committee decide how to best create new learning and teaching spaces, improved raised beds, instructional signage and ways to involve the greater Olivette community. To get involved in our new garden, submit ideas, or volunteer to help, please contact Whitney Tucker, one of our Garden Coordinators.

The Old Bonhomme Community Garden is located at the front of the school bus loop behind a white fence and is open for all OB families and neighbors.
